It would seem that Drake Evans was born to wrestle, but that is far from the truth. Although he always aspired to be a sports entertainer, he succeeded in other sports as well.

Drake was born Ryan Williams on March 15,1982 in Troy,New York. He took an interest in wrestling early in the mid-1980's. His grandfather was friends with a local promoter who brought in the WWWF and NWA to the RPI Field House. As he got older and wrestling went into a slump Drake took up other sports. He excelled in little league baseball and school sports such as hockey and basketball. After a while he realized that this was not his calling. For 3 years Drake trained to be a boxer. Boxing was a dream that just did not go anywhere. Then at age 15 Drake was ready to try out for the Troy High School Flying Horses but, a nagging knee injury stopped that.

Drake started getting more into pro wrestling and decided that this was his calling. He contacted Dean Malenko who was running The Malenko School of Wrestling in Tampa,FL. Dean really inspired Drake to follow his dream of the squared circle. In May of 1999 Drake seen a news interview in which it featured a pro wrestling school in Schenectady,NY. The following year at age 18 Drake started his training with one of the best independent wrestlers in New York, Jeff Starr. After 3 months of training Drake made his debut in Tri-State Wrestling in Rutland,Vermont as The Enigma. He wrestled Lars Larson in the opening bout. The match went well considering it was both wrestlers debuts. Drake would then team with Shockwave in World Of Hurt Wrestling as Aftershock. That tag team did not last long and would go on to feud with Shockwave and even cost him the World Of Hurt Light Heavyweight title. He continued his run with both Tri-State Wrestling and World Of Hurt Wrestling until personal problems forced him away for 6 months. Drake came back to World Of Hurt in March 2002 and won the World Of Hurt Hardcore Championship from Tony Militia despite losing it 30 seconds later. The next night Drake was asked to leave World Of Hurt by his friend. Drake told him no. Drake felt bad about his decision and talked to his friend who assured Drake that if he didn't leave that he would never get booked. Drake who was still new really didn't know what to do so he left and went to Superstars of Pro Wrestling . 2 months after going to Superstars Of Pro Wrestling Drake Evans and Core (Corey Crimson) became the first SPW Tag Team Champions by defeating Chip Stetson and Sal Valentino. They would reign as champions for 6 months until Core used the Tag Team belt on Drake to cost them the titles. In October 2002 Drake's alter ego Aftershock defeated Chip Stetson for the vacant SPW Heavyweight Championship. Drake would also go on to feud with Core not only in New York but, in Pennsylvania also. On April 26, 2003 Drake took on Core for the EWA Hardcore Championship in Amsterdam,New York. The match turned into a blood bath when Drake hit Core over the head with light bulb tubes. The match was stopped and called a draw (politics) The match was never spoken about in SPW and it was stricken from SPW's site. A week later Drake beat Core to win the SPW Tap Out Championship. In June of 2003 Drake had his final match with with SPW against Tony Mamaluke. Drake was the last SPW Heavyweight and Tap Out Champion. Later in the year Drake had a brief stint with the Kayfabe Dojo in Rochester, NY. In 2004 Drake was set to return to the ring at SPW , but due to some problems SPW was not able to open up. After an 8 month layoff drake returned to wrestling on May 29,2004. Drake made his debut in Slam All Star Wrestling in Highgate, VT thanks in part to his friend Maxx Burton. That is where Drake can be seen wrestling. For more information on SAW go to www.slamallstarwrestling.com .
